It pays to be proactive

Does your organisation simply let its IT support contracts auto‑renew, without investigating whether they’re still the best option for you?

Letting contracts run in this way can have hidden costs as services become outdated and create security gaps, all while prices continue to nudge upwards.

In his article for NODE magazine, 247connect CEO, Al Kingsley says that instead of letting renewals passively roll over, IT and business leaders should consider support contracts as strategic tools to drive efficiency and resilience. He recommends being proactive by reviewing support needs well before any contracts renew –  seeing how your existing tools fit, while also considering evolving business demands (e.g. hybrid working, new software) and comparing alternative providers or models.

A key trend is the use of remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms (e.g., cloud-based tools such as 247connect or on-premise solutions like NetSupport Manager) that empower internal teams to detect and remedy issues more rapidly and with less dependence on external providers.

Kingsley emphasises that renewals are more than cost exercises; they are opportunities to realign your IT support and, at the same time, future‑proof your business operations.
